The technology advancements in TV’s have come a long way from the big box that needed an even bigger box to sit on that were a feature of my childhood in the eighties. The latest lightweight thin TV models mean there or so many more options to make a feature of your TV. Never would we have imagined in the eighties being able to put a TV on a wall!
This post looks at some ways to really make a feature of your TV in your living room.
1 Back Panel
Mounting your TV to a back panel is a great way to make a feature of your TV. Using natural materials like oak gives longevity to your feature wall and looks amazing with so many colour schemes; Your could opt for a natural light and airy look, or go for darker colours for a warmer and more dramatic look.
You could also use marble to create a back panel, and a range of materials. The beauty of a back panel is that it hides all of the untidy cables, and you can use a bracket so the TV can be pulled forward to be viewed from different angles.
If you are trying to create this effect on a budget you could use paint to create the effect of a back panel.
2 Fireplace
Picture a Winter’s evening, snugged up with blankets and hot chocolate to watch a movie in front of the fireplace. That right there is my happy place! There are so many ways to make a feature of your TV using a fireplace. You could have a modern fireplace and create a sleek look as in the picture below. Or a more traditional fireplace and mantel piece. Either way a feature can be made.
3 Entertainment Unit
Entertainment units create a feature of your TV but also give you valuable storage space. Especially in a family home where there are likely to be games consoles and DVD’s.
The beauty of entertainment units is choice. From colour to style there are so many options. Modern or traditional. Modular, or floating shelves. Minimalist or maximalism. You can even create a bespoke unit to meet your needs.
4 Flush Mounting
If you like a sleek modern look, build a narrow false wall to build your TV into, so it sits flush against the wall. This method is again great for hiding the cables. You could even build speakers and any other hardware into the wall.
5 Make it Art
Create a gallery wall. You can make the TV blend into the gallery either through a frame TV, or using artwork to mount over the TV. I imagine that TV’s that display artwork of your choice when not in use will become the norm in the future.
