I thought this month’s five under £5 I would focus on some little bits I have picked up that are indirectly for the boys.
I love me a tin tray. I don’t know why, and I’m not sure if it makes me slightly odd, but I do. They are great for when you have guests over and I often use them to serve anything from chunks of crusty bread for a ploughmans, or scones for an afternoon tea.
The few that I have are very girly. Think Emma Bridgewater and Cath Kidston type prints. So when I saw this in Home Bargains for £3 I had to grab it, because I thought it would be great for the boys birthday parties.
When I first got this home I did question why I had bought it. I think maybe sniffing all the reed diffusers in Dunelm had gone to my head. I thought it would look nice in one of the boys bedrooms. But then I realised it was heavy and would end up either being broke or breaking something. So instead I temporarily put it on my desk. But it’s still there now, and do you know what, it sparks joy, so i’m keeping it! And it was only £4.50
As well as having a penchant for tin, I also love a bit of garden tableware! I picked up this pineapple plate in Matalan which was normally £3, but was on offer for £1.50. I love the Matalan outdoor range. Really colourful and fun. I might have to go back and get some more.
My kids seem to have inherited my stationery addiction. This purchase goes under the heading of “drives the husband mad, but he will thank me for it later”. Basically if I see something I think the kids will like, I buy it and store it until their birthdays. Even if their birthdays are 10 months away! It spreads the cost and I panic less.
The husband only gets annoyed because I can’t reach the storage place, so he has to do it! I loved these notepads for dreams and ideas from Flying Tiger. They were £3 each.
And finally, if you saw my five under £5 last month, you would have seen some bargains I purchased from Rex of London. I’m a huge fan of the things they sell and an even bigger fan of their prices. After featuring these as offers available, I went back and got them for myself. These vintage transport party lights were reduced from £19.95 to £1.95. The transport ones are no longer available, but there are lots of other designs at great prices.
You can get an extra 10%off at Rex of London using this link, and I also get a voucher!
So that’s my five under £5 for this month. Have you picked up any bargains?
