Do you feel as though your home is dank and drab, rather than being warm and welcoming? If so then now is the time for you to do something about that. By taking steps to cosy-up your home now, you can be sure to make your home feel nicer than ever, without breaking the bank.
Update your Bedding
One of the first things you need to do is take the time to update your bedding. Crisp cotton sheets are ideal for summer but when the weather gets older, it helps to swap that out for flannel. Jersey is also another solid option. While you are at it, it is a good idea for you to add a quilt or an extra blanket at the foot of the bed so you can stay warm even on the coldest of nights.
Snuggly Throw Pillows
Try and get one or two textured throw pillows so you can pack out your couch a little bit. This is a great way for you to make your space feel and look cosier. Other options include cable knit pillows or even ones made out of rich velvet. Faux fur blankets are great if you want to blend the pillows in with the bedding you have. Either way, by focusing on materials such as this, you are bound to make a major difference to your home.
Warmth Underfoot
Flat-weave rugs are ideal when it’s warm outside but when winter rolls around, you want something a little more comforting. If you don’t have the budget for an area rug then consider layering some small rugs in well-planned spots. You can have one next to the bed, and then another one under the coffee table. If you have a reading table then this is another prime location.
Soft Lighting
Soft lighting should not be overlooked. When the nights draw darker earlier, you may be tempted to go to bed earlier so you can keep warm and cosy. Good lighting can help you resist this urge. Opt for a table lamp or even a desk lamp with a warm LED bulb. You can also buy some candles to have around the bedroom, as this will add heat and cosiness to your space. If you want to add to your space even more, remember you can buy some lovely candle holders online.
Focus on your Window Treatments
If you have blinds then this is fine, but if possible you should change them out for some nice thick curtains. The best thing about doing this is that it will help your space to feel more comforting and on top of this, you may also find that it is easier for you to trap the heat in. You won’t need to have the radiators turned on as high and this can translate into savings for your energy bills.
So as you can see, little things like this can make a major difference to how your home looks and feels. Why not see what works for you today, by implementing some of the above ideas?
