A Guest Post by Dad Up North
The series all about the parenting fails and rookie mistakes that prove there really is no manual for this job.
I’m really pleased this week to be featuring another Dad blogger, although somewhat dubious as to what people are going to be searching on google when they find this post! Please welcome Matthew, who blogs at Dad Up North. Matthew’s post is about the Rookie mistakes he made in the first 6 months of his daughters life. Could you survive these rookie mistakes without heading for the divorce courts? 😉

About Matthew:
Fairly standard bloke if I’m honest. Blog name gives a pretty big clue that I live ‘up north’ of England, Last year I turned 30, moved house, changed jobs and became a dad, to a very special little lady….Effy. She instantly changed my world and doubled the amount of pink things in my house. I travel and commute a lot so instead of staring out of the window or wasting my time on Facebook I started a blog. My blog isn’t a place to come to get expert parent advice. The truth is, I have acquired most my knowledge and skills from google, my mam and Family Guy. She’s 9 months old now and she seems to still like me, so I must be doing something right.

A chocolate reunion is always a happy ending. My husband left our changing bag at work in a pavilion that was then locked for a week at a cricket ground that was then in lockdown mode for some international event. It was not a happy couple of weeks…we could peer in the window in the beginning and see it sitting there, lonely and full of nappies. I am only thankful that there wasn’t a mars bar in it. #FridayFrolics
Looks as though you have learned the hard way. Thanks for sharing with us! My Mrs., she had the babies and I’ve been in all sorts of troubles. #FridayFrolics
All of this sounds very familiar to me. The thing I actually want to stab my husband for, though, is how amazing he is at ignoring the heaps of laundry until he runs out of clean pants. That one gets on my wick! #fridayfrolics
In our house I wake up at the slightest noise whilst my wife could sleep through armageddon, but apart from that all sounds familiar!! Enjoyed reading that! #FridayFrolics
LOL. Agree, agree, agree, agree and agree!

Mine once asked me “Why can’t you even put the dishwasher on?”
This at a time when the baby was waking up every. 45. minutes.
I couldn’t even remember we had a feckin’ dishwasher!
What is it about dudes being able to sleep through baby cries, I imagine it must be an evolutionary thing or at least that’s what I told myself to stop me from stabbing my OH
Hi Matthew! My husband shits me to tears when he says things like he’ll ‘babysit the kids’ or ‘would you like me to clean up for you’ – arghghhghh I have nearly stabbed him several times!
Haha really great post ans so on point!! especially the about pretending not to hear the baby cry!! lol. We have 3 kids now, so my DH has grown out of that!! Now I do it!! lol!
