Rookie Mistakes is a series where guest bloggers divulge their parenting fails, and make us laugh or inspire us in the process.
This weeks guest post comes from Danielle who blogs at Living With The Mess. She is sharing her potty training fail. I say forget all those books that tell you how to do it. Lets all join together with our potty training fails and tell everyone how not to do it!
Bio:
A former teacher, Danielle blogs about parenting and preschooler activities at Living With The Mess. As a sleep deprived parent to a toddler and baby, she’s spent the majority of this year shedding pounds with Slimming World and is now in the final few weeks of maternity leave before returning to work, hoping to mix a part time job with blogging.

Oh no! I’ve done the same before when they have fallen asleep and it’s been a decision of waking them and making them grumpy or waiting to see if it happens. Thanks for linking to #PickNMix
Oh no! I’m not great with ‘bodily fluids’ so I’m glad this hasn’t happened YET!! There are many things I have ‘failed’ at in the 2yrs I have been a mum, I need to start writing them down! 🙂

oh no!!! I still panic at large pools of bodily fluids-you know the ones that you know won’t stay contained once you pick the material up. Good thinking to get it dry though 😉 #MaternityMondays
I can’t believe you managed to get a double mattress all the way downstairs and outside on your own, I would have just given her my bed for the night and slept on the floor haha. We started potty training and then stopped again because Leo just kept weeing and pooing by the potty and I couldn’t deal with the mess. Will try again in a month or 2 when he might be more ready…great post xx #maternitymondays
Oh dear! I can completely see how this happened though – getting two children to nap, alone (my youngest likes to be on me), at the same time, is a moment of great excitement! #fridayfrolics
Oh bless ha! When u was about 2/3 I wet my wet but didn’t tell anyone, my auntie and uncle babysat turned on my electric blanket and my mattress set on fire and had to be thrown out of the window…. In my defence I was very young!

Ouch!
What a fab story – I’m only three weeks in to life as a new mum and feel I’ve already ‘got it wrong’ countless times. Its kind of reassuring to know I’m not alone. And I love the image of you dragging a double mattress outside on your own – I currently seem to be mastering tasks one-handed that I never thought possible (baby often reluctant to be anywhere but on me at the mo). Made me smile reading this, thank you.
