I Don’t Understand. Please Explain To Me.

Dear Reform voter,

I feel utterly hopeless about the state of our Country right now. But not for the same reasons as you. I assume you would call me a ‘liberal lefty’ or ‘woke’.

I believe that differences of opinion can be a good thing. That we should listen to each other, because often when we listen we find common ground. I am really trying to understand why people are voting for Reform. But I just don’t get it. I don’t see what you see. I want to understand.

Please explain to me.

I often hear that ‘stopping the boats’ is about protecting women. But the stats are not adding up, and the contradictions are.

I don’t understand how you claim it is about protecting women, when the policies you are voting in take away our rights to equality and leave us open to discrimination.

I don’t understand why you blame crimes against women on refugees, when the over 85% of violent or sexual crimes committed against women are done so by white men.

I don’t understand how you claim it is about protecting women when you scream about the 0.16% of the population that are asylum claimants, but you are are not screaming about he 98% of reported rapes that do not receive a criminal conviction.

I don’t understand how you claim it is about protecting women when you chant ‘get your tits out for the lads’ on your marches, or how 41% of those arrested on marches had previously been reported to police for domestic abuse-related offences.

I don’t understand how you claim it is about protecting women when there was no protest over the non custodial sentencing of three teenage boys in Southampton who were found guilty of raping two girls at knife point and videoed the attack. Yet you came and destroyed our streets two weeks later when a black man was convicted of murdering a white man.

I often hear reform voters saying they are not racisit, but their views and actions tell me otherwise.

I don’t understand how it is not racist when you say you want Britain back and what you mean is that you want white supremacy.

I don’t understand how it is not racist when you say White Lives Matter. Black Lives Matter was never about valuing black lives over white lives. It was about valuing all life equally, and acknowledging the oppression and discrimination that black people have faced.

I don’t understand why you say you want Great Britain back, when from what I can see you are the ones causing division and tearing it apart.

I don’t understand how refugees coming on boats has personally affected your life, and certainly not to the extent that you are so angry.

I don’t understand what you would do if your country was torn apart by war.

I don’t understand where your humanity is and where your hatred comes from.

I hear people say Nigel Farage is ‘one of us’ and that he talks a lot of sense. But all I hear is lies and a voting record that makes me feel sick.

I don’t understand how you can vote for a man who lies about facts and figures. At the very least our politicians owe us the truth, and should be held accountable when they lie.

I don’t understand how you can vote for a man who claims to be for the working man but is a privately educated multimillionaire, whose policies benefit the rich.

I don’t understand how you can vote for a man who has created a party full of tories. Five of the Eight Reform MP’s in parliament used to be conservative ministers.

I don’t understand how you can vote for a man who wants to dismantle the NHS. How will you be able to afford health care and pay medical bills for your family?

I don’t understand how you can vote for a party who will make you financially worse off with their policies.

It’s my country too.
