I’m an organised person. I like being organised. Combine that with the fact that I am obsessed with stationery, means that I have a pretty sizeable collection of planners and notebooks. I’m also a busy mum, running the lives of a teen and a tween,. I run three businesses. Then there’s the coordinating schedules with the husband, general life admin, keeping on top of jobs around the house, remembering to worm the dog, buy the food, pay the bills, plan the birthdays, drink the water and do the exercise. It’s a lot! The Motherload. Add to the mix perimenopause brain fog and I have been dropping some of the plates that I am spinning.
I know I am no different to any other Mum out there. But forgetting things has been getting me down. My normal endless lists haven’t been working for me and I wanted to try something different to combat the brain fog and help with my productivity.
I needed something other than vitamins and ‘healthy sleep’. And I found something. The reMarkable Paper Pro. A digital notebook.
Spoiler alert: It’s so much more than a notebook.

I’ve been looking at getting one for a while, but they are spenny. And whilst trying to research if it would really benefit me, the reviews I found were mainly men giving very technical reviews, that didn’t tell me how it would help me with my day to day life. So I contacted reMarkable and said let me review your product on behalf of the busy mums out there.
So if you are here for a techy review, I’m sorry, but that’s not my thing. If you are interested in being more organised, and productive and basically keeping your sh!T together, I’ve got you.

I found the more I used the reMarkable Paper Pro, the more I realised it could be used for.

Running a Business
I’ve been using the reMarkable for just over two weeks and this is just some of the things I have used the remarkable for in my day to day work life:
- Daily Planner
- Article Ideas
- Article Oulines
- Research Notes
- Meeting Notes
- Time Blocking
- Brainstorming
- General scribbles
- Month End
The diaries and planners you can download are really clever. I can look at a monthly overview, touch the day and it will take me into my planner for that day. I am able to work with structure and increaced productivity.
The reMarkable is marketed mainly as a work tool, or for students who do lots of note-taking and annotating. And it’s great at all that stuff, and so nice to have no pop ups or notifications going off all the time. It really is distraction free.
I expected the reMarkable to be good at this stuff. And it is. The colour makes a huge difference for highlighting things and colour coding. The battery life is amazing. I only need to charge it once a week. Writing on it feels just like writing on paper. All the things it is supposed to do, it does really well. But what really surprised me was the impact the reMarkable made on other areas of my life, not just work.

Mum Life & Life Admin
Term dates on one sheet so I can easily see them. Same with my husband’s hoildays. Everyone’s birthdays on one template. A list of important dates such as Car MOT and contents insurance renewal. A project planner for all those jobs around the house that we never get round to. Exam dates for my eldest. A holiday planner with lists of everything we need to pack, and things I need to organise before we go. My organisation plan for the house, room by room so I can tick off drawers as I organise them and keep on top of the ever-building stuff we accumulate. A list of ideas for my youngest’s upcoming birthday. A Christmas planner downloaded and ready to use later this year. Meal ideas. Grocery list. A list of movies and TV series that I want to watch but always forget. Deliveries I am tracking. A list of things I need to buy at some point. The clothes I am selling on Vinted. Everything I need to know and want to do in one place. At this point the reMarkable is literally a download of my brain.
It sounds a lot because it is. And the majority of that stuff was either knocking about my head and waking me up at 3am, or was written in various notebooks never to be found when you need it! My head is so much clearer and I genuinely feel like there is room in my head now! My brain feels calmer and quieter. Seriously, they should give one of these to every new mum. Especially for the primary school years. My life would have been so much easier with a reMarkable during the endless class parties, dress up days, and money for this and that days!

Mindfulness
Practising mindfulness is something I am really passionate about, in whatever form helps. It’s something that really helps me manage anxiety and keep a clear head. I have learnt to plan time for mindfulness, because life is busy and if I don’t plan it, it doesn’t happen. So whilst the reMarkable cannot assist me with applying face masks, or listening to a podcast, it does help me set aside time for those things.
It is far more hands-on with mindfulness in other areas such as journalling, gratitude diaries, hydration trackers and workout planners. All of which I have been doing on the reMarkable Paper Pro, and it’s so easy having everything in one place. The first thing I do before I start work is go to my Morning Routine workbook and do five minutes of mindfulness. I no longer forget to do it, because it’s right there in front of me. So, yes, the reMarkable is great for mindfulness too.
Did you know that if you have your mobile phone within arm’s reach, your productivity and focus decrease by 5%. reMarkable commissioned an academic study that showed the importance of writing over typing. It improves creativity, improves focus, improves memory, decreases stress and mental load. We should all write more.

Creativity
I’m a fairly creative person, but I didn’t expect the reMarkable to appeal to that side of me. I was wrong! I’ve really enjoyed designing my own templates for things that I use on a daily basis, such as article outlines. I have also been using it to practice calligraphy (a new skill I am trying to learn this year).
The layers function enables you to create a template and then use an additional layer when you write, so if you need to erase anything, you can do so without ruining your base template.
There are music sheets available if that’s your thing, and I have seen other people use it for digital drawings. The creative applications are endless. You can even download colouring in pages if that helps you to wind down.

Downside
There’s only two downsides for me. One of them is a mere irk. it is the fact that the screensaver is really boring. You can change them, but it’s not an easy process and one far too technical for me. It would be nice to be able to easily personalise it with your own screen saver designs.
The other downside is a big one. It’s the price. At around £559 it is not a cheap purchase, and for many a barrier to even be able to purchase at that price. In comparison, it is a similar price to a new iPhone, or iPad, but it is not a replacement. And as an addition it’s a lot of money to find. My hope is that as they become a more mainstream product the price will come down. As it stands it is an investment, and whilst I think it’s a great investment because I have been using it and loving it, I’m not sure I could have parted with all that money not knowing how it would benefit me.
That being said, reMarkable offers free returns and a full refund within 50 days after your delivery date, if you are not happy with your reMarkable. You can also pay in instalments.

Conclusion
Like I said at the start, this isn’t a techy review of the product. There are plenty of those online that will show you how great the screen is and how it works. I wanted to look at it from the point of view of how it could help me in my day to day life.
I absolutely love the reMarkable Paper Pro, It is easy to use and does everything I need and more. After two weeks I don’t know what I would do without it. It has to be my favourite non living thing in my home.
The reMarkable Paper Pro is so much more than a notebook. It helps me to organise, to create, to be productive, and to keep my head clear. Simply put, it makes my life more manageable.
I honestly think reMarkable is targeting the wrong audience. Busy Mum’s need this in their life. Especially those of us with brain fog!
