Every year, around 32 million people choose Greece as their must-visit holiday destination, and it’s no surprise as to why. From the hustle and bustle of its capital city to the unspoilt tranquillity of some of the Greek Islands, there’s something for everyone.
But if you’re thinking about heading here this summer, which Greek island is best for you?

1. Santorini for Couples
Santorini is an incredibly small island, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in amazing things to see and do. From its jaw-dropping scenery that’s perfect for sitting and enjoying while the sun goes down to the delightful cuisine on offer, it’s the ideal place for a romantic getaway with your partner.
You’ll also find plenty of wine tours, boat tours and local attractions if you’re not the couple to sit by the pool or beach all day. It’s also a great place to visit all year round, so if you fancy escaping the tourist season, head there over the winter months to soak up its stunning culture without lots of hustle and bustle.
2. Naxos for the Whole Family
Naxos is hailed as being the most family-friend of Greece’s islands.
Why?
It’s got plenty of stunning beaches and the main town boasts ample entertainment in the form of traditional tavernas that serve some of the best food in Greece. Plus, there are lots of inland villages that you can explore, so it’s easy to head off for the day when you want a break from the beach (if you do, that is!).
3. Mykonos for the Youngsters
If you’re looking for nightlife, Mykonos is a must. In fact, it’s highly likely this place never sleeps.
Nevertheless, if you do fancy a bit of culture while you’re living it up in Mykonos, you’ll find plenty on the doorstep of Mykonos Town which is steeped in culture. As you would expect, there are also lots of beaches to relax and unwind on throughout the day.
4. Crete for Everyone
As the largest Greek island, Crete has something for everyone, whether you’re looking for small cities, hiking trails, historical landmarks or beaches. You’ll want at least a week to explore this island, but if you have a little longer, you might want to hop over to Santorini while you’re at it, too.
5. Antiparos for the Traditionalists
If you really want to explore historic Greece, Antiparos may be the island for you. It still has a lot of its original charm, an incredibly slow pace of life, idyllic (and quiet!) beaches and sensational local restaurants.
Only accessible by boat, this island is one of the few Greek islands that still feels like you’re the first person to discover it.
