I don’t know about you, but I always associate Red Letter Days experiences with high adrenaline filled activities such as wing walking and bungee jumping. My first thought are always something high and terrifying! But actually Red Letter Days have plenty more sedate activities, if like me you are that way inclined.
Red Letter Days contacted me and asked me if I would like to review one of their experiences. Much to my husbands disappointment I didn’t go for the go-carting or zorbing, but instead opted for afternoon tea.
Red Letter Days Experiences
There are so many Red Letter Days experiences for the feint hearted! If you are not an adrenaline junkie and prefer a more sedate activity you could chose from:
- Luxury Dining
- Wine Tasting
- Chocolate Workshops
- Perfume Workshops
- Cookery Class
- Spa Days
- Manicures
- Art Classes
- Theatre Trips
- Mini Breaks
And these are just a few examples.
The husband stopped his complaining when he realised he would be accompanying me to afternoon tea and he would get to eat Sandwiches. He is somewhat like Joey from Friends when it comes to sandwiches.
Stanwell House
We went to Stanwell House in Lymington in the New Forest for a Champagne Afternoon Tea.
Stanwell House is a beautiful hotel. We sat in the sun room on comfy couches in a relaxed environment.
The location of the hotel is great. You can have a little mooch around the shops in Lymington, or head down for a wonder around the harbour. Plenty of ways to work up an appetite for your afternoon tea, or if you can face it, walk off some calories after!
Cakes cakes cakes!
The food was really lovely. The cakes were amazing and I honestly couldn’t pick a favourite they were all so delicious. I’m simply going to have to let the pictures do the talking.
We had to ask the waiter what the champagne was as we both enjoyed it so much. We even stopped at the supermarket to treat ourselves to a bottle on the way home. Well, we were child free and celebrating our wedding anniversary.
The staff were all very friendly. The service was a little slow, but when you are having a leisurely afternoon tea it’s nice not to be rushed, and it wasn’t a problem.
I had two complaints. Firstly the sandwich to cake ratio was in my opinion wrong. But this wasn’t unique to Stanwell House, I find this where ever I have afternoon tea. I always want more sandwiches and less cake.
My second complaint was that they were very stingy with the jam for the scones. There were no big dollops to be had. Just a slight smear of a spread. However two massive scones each were a bit over the top. I could only manage one (not that there was enough jam for two). Maybe one scone per person and more sandwiches? Just a suggestion.
I would happily go back to Stanwell House for afternoon tea again. Red Letter Days offer lots of options for afternoon tea in locations across the country. You can opt for a standard afternoon tea, a champagne afternoon tea, or a luxury afternoon tea. There’s something to suit you wherever you are and whatever your price range.
They make great gifts as well, especially with Christmas rapidly approaching. My husband recently turned 40, and he asked for gifts that he could make memories with. Red Letter Days experiences are a great way to do that. Whether you want an adrenaline filled experience, or a little bit of luxury.
