My two boys are chalk and cheese. Big has always been a book worm. He loves reading, it came very easily to him, and he has never really needed any encouragement to pick up a book. Little however, is not so keen. He loves a bedtime story, but when it comes to reading himself he is very reluctant. So I try lots of different things to get him engaged. When In The Book contacted me to ask if I wanted to review a personalised book, I knew it was something that could help.

In The Book puts your child in the story making it a personalised book just for them.

They could be the star alongside some of their favourite characters. You can add a personal message to the front and include a photograph in the back.

I knew Little would be excited to see his name in the book, and whilst he didn’t start reading the whole thing to me, it definitely took a lot less coercion for him to read a sentence on each page.

The website itself is easy to use, even a grandparent could do it! You can search by age, gender, category and character. The hardest part is deciding which book you want because the choice is phenomenal. There are lot’s of Disney books with favourite Disney characters from Frozen to Cars. There are Superhero books, football books, unicorn books, Christmas books. Books about pets, dinosaurs and pirates. There really is something for everyone.

There are even a selection of stories where you can create an avatar of your child, so not only does their name appear in the story, but a cartoon version of themselves in the illustrations., making it a magical personalised book. You get to chose things like, hair style and colour, eye colour and clothes.

We chose a Disney book, Mickey and the roadster racers as Little is a big fan of the cartoon on DisneyPlus. The story features giant meatballs which just happens to be his favourite food (of the normal size) so he loved the story and found it funny. The fact his name was in it and he was part of the story made it so magical for him. He loves it.

The book itself is great quality with lots of bright pictures, and the story is a good length too. Not too short or too long. Perfect bedtime story length.

I don’t think you can go wrong with buying books for kids, and these are really lovely keepsake gifts. Whether it’s a Christmas present or something for baby’s first library. I know our personalised book is one that will be kept forever.

This is just a small selection of other books taken from In The Book website. There really is so much choice.

We were really pleased with our book and I would be happy to buy more from In The Book.

I was gifted a book of my choice from In The Book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
