Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without belting out a few Christmas Carols. Maybe you like the classics, Good King Wenceslas or Deck the Halls. Maybe you’re more of a Santa got stuck up the chimney kind of person. But if you are a Mum I’m sure you will appreciate a Mum’s Christmas carol.
It maybe sexist, but it is my truth, that the majority of Christmas planing and organising and doing, comes down to the female of the house, and as a result we can be a frazzled mess. So if your to-do list is out of control, you’ve had a weep watching Miracle on 34th Street, and you’ve already used seventy metres of wrapping paper, this one is for you.
To the tune of Away In A Manger if you want to have a little sing along to get you in the festive spirit!
A Mum’s Christmas Carol
Oh Dear Father Christmas
There’s no sleep to be had,
The baby is teething,
And the kids have gone mad
From all the excitement
For this one day a year,
I’m bribing good behavior
With the naughty list fear.
There’s shopping to be done
And the presents to wrap,
But I’ve got a sniffle and
There’s no time to feel crap.
I’m having a nightmare
Finding an Elsa doll,
Please tell me you make them
In that there North Pole.
There’s no elves on my shelves
Because I ran out of time
Making school play costumes,
Oh please bring me some wine.
I still need to find room
For the Christmas tree,
And plan for the children
To come sit on your knee.
The house needs a good clean
There is dirt on my floor,
And we’re having a visit
From my mother-in-law.
So please Father Christmas
I have just one thing to ask,
When you come down my chimney
Wipe your feet on the hearth.
I do love Christmas really!
Leave me a comment with your favourite Christmas carol, or tell me what is stressing you out this festive period, or how many rolls of wrapping paper you have used so far.

very cute Claire. I’ll confess that I really don’t care for all the carols very much, it might be my least favorite part of Christmas and I try to avoid them. I liked this though!
Claire. Quite simply. You are a genius.
Very funny! I love Christmas, especially now my oldest is starting to understand what it’s all about, but it is manic! #coolmumclub

So funny, I can just picture you telling Father Christmas to wipe his feet. #coolmumclub
This is fabulous. Parents everywhere will be thinking the same thing on Christmas Eve. Yes, yes Santa, thanks for the presents and all that but please don’t make a mess on my floor! Great carol 🙂 #coolmumclub

This is great. LOL! I actually just wrote one to for the 12 days of Christmas. I was waiting to post it until we were 12 days away.
Cool. Have you got tune tune to 12 days of Christmas stuck in your head since writing it?!
Reblogged this on Gluestick Mum and commented:
Couldn’t have summed it up better myself. Bloomin’ Christmas.
