If your partner’s birthday is coming up, you will be super excited. Probably even more excited than he is about the big day! Even if you have only been dating a couple of months – or even a couple of weeks – you might be slightly confused as to what you should get him. After all, you don’t want to get him a huge present that costs you a pretty penny – not so early on in your relationship, anyway. But, at the same time, you don’t want to look like you are scrimping on his gift! Buying a birthday present for a fairly new man can certainly be a tricky task to navigate.
Do Take Him Out For Dinner
When you are thinking about all the best gifts for men, you might start overthinking things and get confused about what to get your new beau. But buying a gift shouldn’t be that difficult! If you keep thinking of gifts that might be too big or might show you as overly keen, you can just keep things simple and take your man out for a nice dinner. Why not go to his favourite restaurant? You can always head to a few bars after the meal. I’m sure your boyfriend will really appreciate being wined and dined for his birthday, and he might even repay the favour when it’s your turn to turn a year older! Just remember that you shouldn’t take him out for a very posh dinner. For instance, if you take him to a Michelin-starred restaurant, you could be taking things over the top slightly. That’s something that should be kept for your fifth anniversary!
Don’t Go For A Cliched Present
There are lots of cliche gifts that you might think about getting your guy. These include things like a tie, bottle of whiskey, or a hamper of masculine grooming products. There is no way any cliches are going to impress him. If he doesn’t know you that well, he might even think that you are only buying him a birthday present because you feel obliged to. So, instead of any cliches go for a gift that shows you have put plenty of thought into it. Those are the presents that will really wow him!
Don’t Even Think Of Making A Mixtape
If you share a love of music, you might want to put together a few of your favourite songs for a mixtape or in a playlist. Alternatively, you might think of a mixtape or playlist if you have completely different tastes in music and you fancy trying to convert your guy over to your tastes. But I am here to tell you to stop thinking about that now! Making a mixtape is never a good move unless you are a couple of head-over-heels teenagers. If you do want to give him the gift of music for his birthday, you should simply get him an iTunes voucher so that he can make his own selection.
Do Buy Him Something Edible
Do you know what the fastest way to a guy’s heart is? Through his stomach! Well, that’s how the old saying goes, anyway. But it is entirely true! You will never go wrong if you buy your new partner a present that is totally edible. You could keep it simple with a traditional box of chocolates, or you might want to get him something totally unique like a wine and cheese set. All you need to do is find out what his favourite food is and go down that line. If your man fancies himself as a bit of a kitchen whizz, you might also like the idea of buying him something that he can put to good use in the kitchen – how about a spiralizer or a set of chef’s knives?
Do Buy Him Something Related To Something You’ve Talked About
Does he always bring up his interest in local history? Or maybe he’s always dragging you to look around exhibitions at art galleries. If so, buy him something related to these interests that he’s always talking about. So, if he is a history buff, why not buy him some books that will keep him interested. Alternatively, if he is an art aficionado, you might want to buy him an annual subscription for his favorite gallery.
Just because you and your partner have only been together for a couple of months, it doesn’t mean that buying a birthday gift has to be tricky! Follow these dos and don’ts and you will come up with a fab idea!
